Whisper-Quiet Momentum: Original Peloton® Bike Genuine OEM Flywheel Hub & Axle Assembly (Tonic Frame Variant - Brand New)
Total Price includes a $35 refundable core charge. Please see below for return instructions.
Is your Peloton bike developing a distracting, metallic grinding noise from the front wheel during high-cadence rides, or do you feel a rough vibration traveling straight up through your handlebars?
The signature fluid feel of a Peloton® Bike relies entirely on its heavy, precision-balanced 38-pound magnetic flywheel spinning effortlessly up to speeds exceeding 100 RPM. This incredibly tight, frictionless rotation is anchored to the front fork by the Genuine OEM Flywheel Hub & Axle Assembly.
This brand-new, complete replacement core is engineered specifically for Tonic-manufactured Peloton frames (commonly identifiable by the structural frame labels located on the inner fork or bottom stabilizer rail). Arriving as a fully populated, drop-in module, it contains the factory-pressed high-precision cartridge bearings, the central hardened steel axle spindle, and the structural hubs. Replacing a worn hub assembly eliminates front-end acoustic noise, cures rough rotational drag, and restores your bike's silent, showroom-smooth glide.
High-Performance Mechanical Specifications
Attempting to tap generic, unshielded hardware bearings into an old, warped hub housing can permanently unbalance your 38lb flywheel, creating intense frame vibrations that can wear down the magnetic resistance brake pad array.
Pre-Balanced Internal Cartridge Bearings: Factory-pressed under zero-tolerance laboratory conditions into a high-density steel hub shell, ensuring the axle remains laser-straight under heavy downward rider force.
Double-Sealed Synthetic Shielding: Outfitted with premium rubber contact seals designed to lock in performance grease while completely isolating the moving ball bearings from highly corrosive sweat drops and flying dust.
Tonic-Frame Specific Geometry: Machined with the exact shoulder depths, lock-ring spacing, and thread pitch needed to sit perfectly flush within Tonic-produced front fork dropouts.
Complete Mounting Hardware Kit Included: Ships with replacement high-tensile axle retention bolts and structural locking washers, ensuring you don't have to reuse stretched, worn out, or cross-threaded legacy hardware.
Signs Your Flywheel Hub Bearings Have Suffered a Breakdown
Because the flywheel spins at exceptional velocities during a workout, failing internal bearing races manifest through unmistakable symptoms:
The "Subway Train" Growl: A deep, metallic roaring, whirring, or grinding acoustic pattern coming from the front wheel area that gets noticeably louder and changes in pitch the faster your cadence goes.
The Handlebar Shudder: You can physically feel a low-frequency buzzing or grinding sensation vibrating through your grip tape when you are out of the saddle climbing at high resistance.
Visible Micro-Wobble: If you stand directly in front of the bike and watch the spinning flywheel edge relative to the orange/red magnetic brake calipers, the wheel sways or tracks laterally side-to-side by more than a millimeter.
The 30-Minute Pro DIY Replacement Sequence
Swapping out your flywheel hub assembly is a highly rewarding, straightforward mechanical project that requires standard tools: an Allen key set (3mm, 5mm, and 6mm) and a Phillips screwdriver for the guard. To guarantee a flawless, silent first ride, follow this sequence:
1.Remove the Resistance Shrouds & Belt Guard:Complete Hardware Access.Unplug your Peloton console monitor for safety. Turn the resistance knob completely counter-clockwise to lift the magnetic brake pad array as high away from the wheel as possible. Unscrew the small plastic orange/black sweat guards and the main side belt protection cover using your tools.
2.Walk the Drive Belt Off the Pulley:Relieve Flywheel Tension.Carefully rotate the crank arms by hand while gently sliding the orange multi-groove Poly-V drive belt sideways off the large rear pulley until it slides completely clear. This removes all rotational tension from the front axle system.
3.Unbolt the Axle and Extract the Flywheel:Isolate the Heavy Steel Core.Support the weight of the heavy 38lb flywheel from underneath with one hand. Loosen and remove the main structural axle bolts from the left and right front fork dropouts. Carefully lower the heavy flywheel assembly down and out of the front fork channels, being extremely careful not to scratch the aluminum edge track against the magnetic brake assembly.
4.Unbolt the Failed Hub and Mount the Assembly:Drop-In the Brand New Hub Core.Unbolt the central socket screws holding the old, grinding hub housing inside the center cutout of the flywheel. Slide the worn core out. Insert your Brand-New OEM Tonic Hub & Axle Assembly straight into the center pocket, secure it using the fresh included mounting hardware, and lift the wheel back into the front forks. Re-tension your drive belt and lock down the fork bolts to factory tightness.
Silencing your drive track completely so you can focus entirely on your instructors and your output metrics.
