The Peloton® Treadmill Front Drive Roller is the main mechanical anchor and rotational power-transfer hub of your treadmill's belt system. Positioned directly beneath the front motor hood, this heavy-duty, crowned steel cylinder is mechanically linked to your primary drive motor via a ribbed drive belt. It is responsible for pulling the weight of the running track and absorbing continuous foot strikes without bowing, flexing, or losing structural tracking.

If you are experiencing a persistent roaring sound under the front hood, a high-pitched grinding squeak, or a slipping sensation when accelerating during a workout, the precision internal bearings housed within your front roller assembly have typically failed.
Precision-Crowned Profile: Formulated with a subtle, computer-machined center crown (where the middle of the cylinder is microscopically wider than the outer edges). This natural taper continuously coaxes your walking track back to the true center line, preventing friction rub against the side rails.
Integrated Drive Pulley: Features an exact OEM-spec drive belt groove profile machined directly onto the roller shaft. This design ensures instant, slip-free torque transfer from the motor pulley to your running belt.
Dual-Sealed High-RPM Bearings: Outfitted with premium, industrial-grade sealed cartridge bearings that isolate the rolling internal rod from sweat, carpet fibers, and abrasive static dust, ensuring whisper-quiet operation.
Industrial Structural Memory: Manufactured with high-wall steel tubing engineered to resist structural bending or axle warping under intensive interval training and heavy foot-impact loads.
Replacing your front roller takes approximately 30 minutes using basic hand tools (such as Allen wrenches, a standard adjustable wrench, and a mallet):
Turn off the master power toggle switch at the base and UNPLUG THE TREADMILL FROM THE OUTLET. Unfasten the retaining screws holding down the plastic front motor hood cover and lift it away to expose the motor drive compartment.
Locate the rear roller adjustment bolts at the back of the deck. Turn both bolts counter-clockwise completely to relieve tension on the running belt, documenting how many turns are made to simplify reassembly. Gently slide the rubber motor belt off the front roller's integrated pulley wheel.
Using your wrenches, remove the front roller retaining bolts and washers securing both sides of the roller shaft to the steel chassis frame. Carefully slide the old, worn front roller out from under the loop of the walking belt.
Slide your new Replacement Front Roller through the walking belt. Bolt the roller axle securely back into the frame brackets, route the motor belt back over the drive pulley, and tighten the rear roller bolts back to their original position. Run the deck slowly at 1.5 MPH to verify perfect belt tracking and tension.
Critical Installation Advisory: When installing or tapping your roller components during alignment, never strike the central steel rod directly with a metal hammer. Doing so will mushroom the metal axle end, making it impossible to slide through the precision-machined bearing sleeves. If necessary, always use a soft rubber mallet or block of wood to distribute force evenly across the structural components.
